Fly away butterfly

They say love is like a butterfly (that line in that poem about putting your love on gossamer wings and giving it flight), and I'm not sure if it's just because I'm an old romantic, but there is something so delicately charming about butterfly shapes. So somehow, along the years, I've ended up with a sort of collection of all-things butterfly - cookie cutters, tiny ceramic beads, a cake stand with little butterfly wings cut out - and this modern Japanese paper lamp that I picked up from Family Tree in Exmouth Market a short while back. What's particularly cool is that at night when you turn it on, you get all these shadows of butterfly wings. For a girl who happens to be scared of moths, for some reason fake flying wings I can cope with.

Anyway back to the point: I happen to have a soft spot for Family Tree because it is a little boutique that doesn't try too hard to be "cool"; it just has pretty fresh items which seem to have been collected at random, and you know no one else will have them because most of it appears to be one-offs. And on a recent stop-by, I saw these cute cute pins which, appropriately, happen to be butterflies too: aren't they sweet?
